STYLE OF DANCE: Belly dance - Fusion of Cabaret and Tribal
Description of Dance Classes: My classes are designed to take anyone
interested in belly dance from the most basic of stances and motions to as far
as they wish follow. Classes are fun, aerobic, learning experiences that will
teach you to take the way the music makes you feel and turn it into
motion. You will learn to choreograph your own dances, either for yourself or
for performance - if you choose to perform we have a troupe that welcomes all
dedicated students of Middle Eastern Dance. This style of dance has a profound
effect on the physical, emotional and mental aspects of everyone
that explores it.
Resumé of teacher: Bethany has been dancing, teaching, and performing as
Sanjni Tara for a little over 6 years. She started dance with the Dark
Moon Dancers, then founded Sultan's Dreams, which she still leads and performs
with. She also helped found the Kismet Dance Program out of Carrollton, TX.
She has performed at many local and statewide venues such as the Marrakesh and
Al Amir restaurants of Dallas, the Four Winds Renaissance Festival each summer,
the Kismet and Hipp Sync haflas, many OCC and B&B events, the Deep Ellum Arts
Festival, and Ozzfest 2002. She has been teaching for the last 4 years without
break, and most of her performance troupe is now made up of her former students.
The troupe averages 1 - 2 performances a month throughout the year.
