Teaches all forms of Guinean dance & drum. Open to anyone.
Weekly classes are in Hartford and Willimantic.  We do workshops in many different locations, and are available to travel.  Residencies and school programs are also offered.
HIgh energy classes geared to students of all levels.  Classes are generally divided into 4 sections: warm up; a brief dance combination where technique is broken down; traveling across the floor in lines; a solo circle.  Abdoulaye is a warm and encouraging teacher, whose movements are beautiful.
Mondays, Willimantic,  CT, Dance 6:30-8:00, Drum 8:00-9:30 $10 per class; $5 for children
Tuesdays, Hartford, CT Drum 6:30-7:30, Dance 7:30-9:00, $10 per class; $5 for children

STYLE OF DANCE: West African
Description of Dance Classes: West African Dance for all levels. Class is an hour and a half with live drumming. First there is a warm up. Then students learn a short routine which changes weekly, then do different steps across the floor. Please call to confirm class schedule. The drummer for this dance class is now Lansana Toure.

STYLE OF DANCE: Guinean Village and Ballet Styles
Description of Dance Classes:  Classes are weekly, 1 and 1/2 hours in length and dancers of all experience levels are welcome.  Live drumming is led by Lansana Toure,
member of Les Merveille d'Afrique. All are welcome.

Resumé of teacher:   Aly Tatchol Camara was born in the small village of Dansy in Guinea, West Africa,  He has danced professionally with African ballet companies in Guinea, Senegal, and the U.S.  Mr. Camara leads African Dance Classes at Yale University, Southern Connecticut State University, and at The New Haven School of
African Rhythm and Dance.  Mr. Camara is also featured regularly with RhythmWorks, bringing participatory drumming, dance and song to corporations and educational institutions.
