DALLAS: Open Drum Class with Michael Kenny

Open drum class with Michael Kenny 7:30-9pm every Wed, prior to jam, only $10. Drums available to borrow or buy.

Study traditional West African, some Middle Eastern rhythms, universal rhythmic principles, technique, improvisation.

There will be enough information presented in such a way as to accomodate beginners and challenge more advanced players. Come and check it out.

Learn rhythmic figures that can be applied to many different rhythmic situations.
A variety of drums and percussion instruments will be available.

Participants will learn basic West African drumming techniques and rhythmic patterns on the Djembe and Djun Djun.
Students will also learn the history of various dance, ceremonies, and rhythms learned.

Beginners are welcome.

Some drums are available and for sale as well as drum repair.

This weekly workshop is designed to provide beginners and intermediate drummers the opportunity to learn some of the basic rhythms and solo techniques learned from West African traditions. We play djembes and dunduns and our goal is to have fun learning together and developing a performance repertoire.

Ages 8 and up. Everyone is welcome. Plenty of drums available.
